Capiche is in its test version. This page says, in plain words, what the app keeps about you, why, and who else touches it. Short version: as little as we can, no ads, no selling, no tracking.

Your account

When you open Capiche, the app creates an anonymous account on your device. It has no email and no name, just a random identifier so your progress can be saved. You don't need to tell us who you are.

What we store

  • The links you add: the videos, podcasts, shows and articles in your list, and what kind of content you said each one is.
  • Your listening sessions: how many minutes you listened or read, on which item, and how much you said you understood.
  • Your settings: the language you're learning, your daily appointment and reminder time, your weekly goal.

We use this to run the app for you: sort your list, count your hours, show your progress, and remind you at the time you chose. Nothing else.

Who else is involved

A few services help run Capiche. Each gets only what it needs for its job.

  • The chat. When you ask a question about a video or an article, your question and the transcript of that content are sent to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude, through Vercel's AI Gateway) to write the answer.
  • Transcripts. To show a transcript, we fetch it from third-party services: YouTube captions for videos, and AssemblyAI to transcribe podcasts. They receive the link to the content, not information about you. A transcript is fetched once per item and kept.
  • Subscriptions. Payments are handled by Apple through the App Store, and managed by RevenueCat. We never see your card details.
  • Hosting. Our API runs on Cloudflare. Your data is stored in a Postgres database at Neon, in the EU (Frankfurt).

What we don't do

  • No ads.
  • We don't sell your data, or share it for advertising.
  • No tracking or advertising SDKs in the app.

Deleting your data

In the app, open Progress → Settings → Delete my data. Your account, your list, your listening history, your witness clip and your chat questions are deleted from our servers right away, for good.

Deleting the app from your phone removes what's stored on the device, but not what's saved on our servers: use the button above first. If you can't, write to hello@getcapiche.app. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you.

Children

Capiche is not made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change matters, we'll say so in the app.
